Changing Futures North East
Changing Futures North East believes that relationships matter! In healthy relationships, we can experience endless joy but at their worst our relationships can bring us great hurt. We work with individuals, families and communities to ensure that the North East has the healthiest relationships in the country. Our own experience as well as lots of research by others, convinces us that healthy relationships lead to positive futures for everyone.
Set up in the late 1990’s by dedicated children, young people and parents in the Headland area of Hartlepool, they wanted and worked hard to provide opportunities for local children and young people. Whilst still based and providing services on the Headland, Changing Futures now works across the Tees Valley delivering a range of services that helps people to build and maintain healthy relationships. We believe in ‘working with’ people rather than ‘doing to’ and giving the right help at the right time, especially at the earliest opportunity when people can make changes to prevent situations becoming worse. We enable individuals to unlock their potential, create and achieve the changes they want and in doing so, nurture relationships and strengthen communities.
Where your donations go:
In the last year we worked with over 700 individuals and families to support them and make positive changes. Any money raised at this year’s GameCon goes directly into our projects that help local Hartlepool children; our Mentoring project. Without the support of the GameCon and all those who attend and donate we couldn’t help as many children as we do.
Here is a little taster of where your money goes:
•Just £22 would pay for a volunteer to be trained to support a local young child in our Mentoring project!
•Just £3.50 would pay for child to be mentored for 2 hours
•Just £25 would pay for a 2 hour group mentoring session for 8 children to help them to reach their goals and aspirations
• £1.50 would cover the cost of a local Hartlepool child getting specialised mentoring support for 1 session.
•£20 would pay for 1 child in care to spend time enjoying a new activity with their volunteer such as paintballing or quad-biking!
•£6 would cover the cost of running a baking session for 5-10 year old children in our youth club!
Here at Changing Futures we are so excited for GameCon 2017! We can’t wait to see students, families and young people from across the town raising money for a valuable service in such an innovative way! We are incredibly grateful for the hard work and dedication that the students and staff at the college have put into this event each year.
Want to make a difference?
We’d love to hear from you and would encourage people to get involved if they feel the same way as us about the importance of relationships. Maybe GameCon has inspired you to hold your own fundraising event such as a bake sale or maybe you’re interested in supporting our children in the Mentoring Project, gaining experience volunteering with children. If so, please visit our website or ring Jess on 01429 891 444 to find out more.
